Being a Pantser

When I start writing a story, I have an idea of the ending and bits of the middle. The middle part of the story is difficult. I know the beginning will change, but I need to set the stage for myself if nothing else. So what scene works for the beginning? I usually over describe the scene.

Once I get the opening in an acceptable state, I outline most of the story. It will change as I write the next scenes. Some chapters get edited down to scenes and some scenes can be expanded to a chapter.

I sound unfocused and perhaps I am. I am definitely slow at producing.
