Hall of Fame Nominations

I tried to get Dallas Page in the NJ Hall of Fame for years. The process is open and easy. There is a nomination link on their website.

The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame has a nominating committee. The committee is made up of music industry insiders, critics and musicians. There are certain qualifications for a nominee. The artist had to be the first in a trend or inspire others.

There are the obvious big selling artists like Elvis or the Beatles. It seems the big 1950s and 1960s acts were easy to put in there. There are lesser selling artists in America, but their fans started bands, like the Ramones or Sonic Youth. The Hall has plenty of exhibits and now concerts.

There are Hall of Famers that make no sense. The nominations in recent years have been criticized by many music fans. Rap has been controversial.

The Committee created a voter poll for nominees. I voted in those polls in the past and it didn’t count. I watched the top vote getter get ignored and someone at the bottom of the votes get in. Twice I saw this happen. The top vote getter eventually got in, but years later.

I’d like to see some older bands get in, but I have no say.

How do we get some older almost forgotten bands in there? Your comments are always welcome.
