Fraiser Crane's Latte
The show Fraiser was cancelled by Paramount a few months back. I figured the update was more of a reunion special event, not that it would last the ten plus years the original show had lasted.
The original show’s peak years were in the mid-1990s. The show wasn’t the young trendy Friends, but it was always reliable. It had laughs and like Big Bang Theory years later, I learned things.
Fraiser and his brother liked to drink lattes at the start of the shows. At that time, I never had a latte.
An upscale coffee shop opened at the Shore Mall in Egg Harbor Township in 1995. They served lattes! I was at the mall at eight o’clock one night and I saw the shop. I had to try one but I had no idea what a latte was. They had lattes and lattes with a shot of syrup. It was probably Torani Syrups flavored syrup with hazelnut, vanilla, chocolate.
How can chocolate be bad? I ordered a chocolate latte. It was really good. It had foamy milk and chocolate flavor. I drank the whole thing before I left the mall.
It was so good that I thought about it at midnight, in bed, staring at the ceiling. I don’t buy beverages because of a tv show, but this intrigued me. I thought about that at one thirty in the morning. There is probably a lot of caffeine in a latte. I thought about that at two a.m.
I discovered the raspberry flavoring at Starbucks years later. I also learned to appreciate the caffeine effect years later. Starbucks was not as caffeinated as that little coffee shop at Shore Mall. I learned to like the Starbucks latte. My go-to was the grande raspberry latte. It got to the point that granderaspberrylatte became one big word when I ordered. Every time at Starbucks I ordered granderaspberrylatte. Borders Books Cafe had cherry lattes. Those were sweet and so good.
Thirty years later, I enjoy a latte at a coffee shop. All because Fraiser Crane enjoyed the beverage.
