Remember when a new computer meant changing your desk area?
I grew up at a time when technology changed fast. Sometimes it went too fast.
There was a time when people got a new computer and it was a major change. The whole set up came in two or three boxes with a lot of Styrofoam packing. The computer had a large monitor with a seven to 15 inch screen. The back of the monitor would be a meter long. You had to rearrange your desk to fit the new monitor. Then there was the tower. Did it go under the desk? Take up space on the desk? Does the mouse go on the left or the right side of the desk?
Apple introduced the imac in the 1990s with the colored backing. It didn’t have a tower, just a big monitor with all the chips and panels inside the monitor backing. This was something new and different. It came in different colors not just tan and black. The screens showed color other than just green type.
There were changes in desktop computers, ipods, ipads, phones. Each new item was bigger or smaller. There were different new features. Phones could now take pictures! Phones held music. You could watch videos on an ipad. You could hold all your music on an ipod. They did away with ipods so you can get a subscription to listen to your music.
Really bring back the iPod. You can link your downloaded music to an iPhone.
The ipads were smaller and thinner. They got bigger. They held more memory. You had to buy a new special cord to plug in places for faster changing. The sound was better. The pictures clearer. It came in colors.
I just bought a new ipad. They saved the pictures, apps and music from the current ipad in the cloud and used that to transfer to the new ipad. It’s just like the one had. Same stuff on it. Same size. Different color. It can do the same things. During the backup, it saved the same screen savers.

This one is updated so I can read an article without having to reload. I don’t have to wait a minute for something to load. Other than that it’s the same. The thrill of the new computer has passed.
